MEET THE BYD MX CREW

MEET THE RIDERS OF The BYD Offroad Crew

OFFROAD CREW

Tommy Searle defending the British MX2 title. Ben Watson stepping up on Triumph. The 2026 British season starts here — and we get to print the kits.

Below: the riders who hang out with us because they want to. From Loughborough to LA.

Tommy Searle on the Muc-Off Triumph — UK Brand Ambassador, 2025 British MX2 champion

Our UK Anchor. Tommy Searle.

UK ANCHOR · TOMMY

Five British MX titles. Most successful British MX2 GP rider of all time. Now defending the 2025 number-one plate on Triumph with Dirt Store Racing.

But that's not why he's on this page. Tommy rolls into our studio with ideas — the 2025 Kecks Yamaha 70th collab was his pitch over a phone call. He clinched the title at Lyng through broken vertebrae, a loose-spoke DNF at the penultimate round, and a controlled fifth-place ride to seal it. Muc-Off picked him back up for 2026. He picks Backyard because he likes the kits. Simple as that.

UK ANCHOR · PRO ROSTER · FAMILY

The crew that rides for us

Every rider on this page came to BYD as a customer first. Not a sponsorship deal. Not a marketing call. They bought a kit, they liked it, and they kept buying.

Tommy Searle pitched the 2025 Kecks Yamaha 70th collab over the phone. Ryan Villopoto DMs us colour references at midnight for his Pro Circuit retro builds. Josh Hansen co-designs more than he models — half our bold catalogue starts with one of his DMs. Vicki Golden runs Backyard on her X Games whip builds. Connor 'Buttery' Eriksson did two Yamaha YZF 450 collabs with us in 2024 — HotWheels and NASCAR.

We have fun making the kits. They have fun riding them. That's the whole pitch.

Five British titles. But mostly: he picks up the phone with ideas.

DS TRIUMPH 2026

Back at Kawasaki. Ryan Villopoto.

BACK AT KAWASAKI

Four AMA Supercross titles. Five Pro Motocross titles. The 2014 KX450F era. March 2026: Ryan signed a new ambassador deal with Kawasaki and Thor — the brands he won every title with.

But the reason he's on this page is the bike-build culture he's built around the RV2 World Mini Grand Prix. Pro Circuit retro greens, the Chesterfield throwback, the NewSchool drop — those aren't sponsored bikes. They're builds Ryan wanted to see happen. He sends us a colour reference at midnight, we work it out by morning. Then someone wins the Mini Grand Prix on it.

RV2 WORLD MINI · PRO CIRCUIT RETROS

#2 Ryan Villopoto

RYAN VILLOPOTO

RV2 doesn't ride for sponsors any more — he rides for whoever made the kit he wants on the bike that month. That's been us more often than we'd believe.

Pro Circuit yellow. Pro Circuit grey. The Chesterfield throwback. Every NewSchool drop. He sends us a sketch. We make it. Done.

LONGEST BYD PARTNER · CO-DESIGNS THE BOLD STUFF

#100 Josh Hansen

JOSH HANSEN

Hansen has been with us longer than anyone else on this page. He doesn't just wear the kits — he co-designs them. Half of the bold direction in our recent catalogue can be traced to a Hansen DM at midnight.

Three-time X Games Best Whip gold medallist. AMA Supercross pro. Currently racing 250cc Husqvarna for Nut Up Industries. The numbers are real — but they're not why he's on this page.

DORTMUND 2026 COMEBACK — JUST FOR FUN

#21 Jake Weimer

JAKE WEIMER

Jake had been retired six years when he called us. 'Doing Dortmund SX. Honda. Want to make the kit?' January 2026, ADAC Dortmund Supercross, Honda CRF450R #21 — we made the graphics, the autograph cards, the paddock setup.

2010 SX Lites West Champion. Five years on the Monster Energy Kawasaki factory team. 2012 King of Paris. He doesn't need to prove anything. The comeback was for fun. We helped.

HLTNCO FOUNDER · STILL HAS FUN ON A BIKE

#33 Josh Grant

JOSH GRANT

One epic AMA Supercross 450 win at A1 in 2009. #33 ever since. Retired from full-time pro in 2019 — but you'll still find him at MDK Motorsport rounds and in the HLTNCO studio, the clothing label he runs himself.

Josh rolls Backyard Design when it's time to dress the bike up. Mostly because his kid thinks our designs are cool. We take the compliment.

TOMMY'S IDEA · 2025 DROP · SOLD OUT

UK Exclusive Kecks Yamaha 70th

KECKS × BACKYARD

Two British brands, one Yamaha 70th Anniversary drop. Tommy Searle pitched the idea over the phone — Kecks for the underwear lads, Backyard for the kit, Yamaha for the bike.

TOMMY · VILLOPOTO · HANSEN · WEIMER · GRANT · BUTTERY · BOWERS

the offroad crew RIDERS WHO PICKED US.

Every rider on this page came as a customer first. Tommy Searle bought a kit. Ryan Villopoto called us in 2019. Josh Hansen has been with us the longest. Each one picked us — not the other way round.

The 2026 British MX2 title is being defended on a Backyard kit. Villopoto runs Backyard on his retro Kawasaki builds. Hansen co-designs more than he models.

From riders. For riders.

Dirt Store Triumph's 2026 lineup: Tommy Searle defending the British MX2 title, Ben Watson stepping up on Triumph. Two riders, one of the strongest British factory teams on paper.

We've made the team's kits since Tommy joined in 2025. The 2026 designs went through six revisions before the team was happy. We like it that way. Production starts now.

Designed in our studio, printed in the workshop, sold UK-only. The full edition shifted in days. Tommy ran the kit through the British paddock season. The whole thing happened because two British brands and one British rider thought it would be fun.
