Production is in Germany. So what?
Our workshop is in Germany. With the UK no longer in the EU, that means every UK order crosses a customs border. In theory, that's a slow process with a customs invoice and courier handling fees waiting on your doormat.
In practice, you won't notice any of it.
FedEx Express, pre-cleared customs
Every Backyard order ships FedEx Express. The customs paperwork is pre-cleared before the parcel leaves our workshop, the duty fees are paid by us, and the courier delivers straight to your door — no calls, no invoices, no waiting at the depot.
Typical timeline: 2 to 4 working days production after you confirm your proof, then around 2 working days FedEx Express transit. Roughly 4 to 6 working days end-to-end from proof to delivery.
VAT and duties included in the price you saw
The price you see on the configurator includes VAT. Import duty is paid by Backyard Design GmbH at our end. The number at checkout is the number you actually pay — no surprise customs invoice.
Same model for every other international destination
We ship FedEx Express worldwide — UK, EU, US, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, plus the country sites in France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Benelux. Duties prepaid by Backyard, VAT included in the configurator price.
